A loan of $275 helped a member to buy zinc to cover her house.

Chea's Group's story

Chea is a 53-year-old mother of seven children, three of whom are still dependent on her. To deal with the daily cost of living, she grows rice on one hectare of farmland and raises pigs as supplementary income. Her 25 years of experience earns her about 10,500 Cambodian riels (KHR) per day.

Chea, who has never been with VisionFund (a Kiva partner) before, is forming a group of two to apply for a new loan. She and her joint borrower are seeking 500,000 KHR each. As the group leader, Chea will spend her loan portion to buy zinc to cover her house. She hopes this purchase will help her to fix her roof on time and own a decent house for her kids.
