A loan of $1,525 helped to buy guinea pigs, chickens, manure, and seeds for her crops.

Clementina's story

Clementina is part of the San Vicente communal bank. She lives in the Victoria del Portete parish. This place has large plains that are apt for raising livestock, and one is able to enjoy the tranquility of nature.

The members are hard-working women who, through their business activities, look out for the well-being of their households from day to day. They still maintain the culture and traditions of their people.

Clementina, age 67, is a widow. However, during her marriage she had seven children. All of them are grown, married, and independent. Now she only lives with two grandchildren, who are grown and work, and a seven year old grandchild, who goes to a school in the community. The house they live in is her own.

Clementina raises animals and farms. She has been working ever since she was a girl. Now, these business activities are the source of income for her household and her financial independence.

She will use her new loan to buy guinea pigs, chickens, manure, and seeds for her crops.

She likes her communal bank because of the companionship that exists been all of the members.
