A loan of $775 helped to buy school supplies and uniforms for her grandchildren.

Amalia Felipa's story

47-year old Amalia lives in the town of Ica in Santiago district with her son and grandchildren. She loves them very much and they are her main reason for living. Amalia is a very friendly, hardworking, enthusiastic person who always puts in a lot of effort to help her family get on in life. Unfortunately because she is poor and has had to work since she was very young, she couldn't study nursing which is what she wanted to do. In her free time she enjoys cooking delicious desserts as treats for for her grandchildren.

Through her own initiative and after much effort and dedication, Amalia now works as a laborer for a local agricultural foundation. She works every day for 10 hours and all is going well because of her hard work and the pleasant way she treats other people.

Amalia is very grateful to Kiva donors as it is thanks to their help that she will be able to buy school supplies and uniforms for her grandchildren whom she currently looks after. In this way she will be able to provide them with the materials they need for their studies. She will continue working hard so she can achieve her great dream of seeing her grandchildren get good good jobs.
