Antonia is the coordinator of her group, El Sol Sale Para Todos 1 (The Sun Shines For Everyone 1), the members of which are located in the city of Hato Mayor, a small rural community. Antonia makes her home there with her husband, in a simple structure. She says that her most difficult challenge has been to improve her business, something she continues to work very hard at. In the meantime, she plans to continue attending church and serving the people.
With her first Esperanza loan almost eight years ago, Antonia started her business, a "Fantasia" selling miscellaneous products. She is now requesting her 15th loan, which she will use to buy clothes, shoes, cosmetics, women´s accessories and other products. Antonia and her group thank you for your help in achieving their dreams by funding this loan!
This is a Group Loan
In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.
Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
