A loan of $400 helped to buy organic fertilizer for her crops.

Shirley's story

Shirley, 22 years old, lives with her husband, with whom she has a son, and cares for him in the house they built a year ago.

From the early morning hours she works growing various vegetables, and peas and potatoes. “Together with my husband I tend to the agricultural fields as to be there and to see my crops grow is my biggest satisfaction,” she says. It has been 5 years since she began to work independently on the land that she inherited from her parents, where now she puts to use all the knowledge she learned as a young girl. She says that without a doubt, she gets a good price for the crops in the city wholesale market, where she goes every 4 months to sell her harvest.

Now she wants to improve her income in order to buy more farming land in order to be able to have better production and higher profits. Shirley, will invest the 1000 soles in the purchase of organic fertilizer to nourish her crops.

This is her first loan with Kiva and she is grateful for the financial help and she agrees to make her payments on time.
