A loan of $1,800 helped to buy a new sewing machine, an embroidery machine, good-quality fabrics, and raw materials.

Bahidja's story

Bahidja is a 51-year-old Iraqi woman. She is married and a mother of 3 children. With limited career options, due to cultural restrictions and domestic constraints, Bahidja is working from home and using her sewing skills to generate income to help meet the financial needs of her family.

Bahidja has 2 years’ experience with the small, home-based sewing and tailoring activity. She would like to improve her work and offer a better quality/variety of services for her clients. To do so she would like to buy a new sewing machine, an embroidery machine, good-quality fabrics, and raw materials. To make these purchases she took a loan from Relief International Microfinance Iraq in the amount of 1,800 USD.
