Anita is 61 years old and widowed with 12 children. She lives in Clarin, Misamis Occidental. She owns and operates a farm, planting and harvesting rice to sell. She has been in her business for over 9 years and earns approximately 8,000 PHP every month. She joined GDMPC in 2007, and now she has requested a loan of 9,500 PHP to purchase fertilizer such as manure. She plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to improve the general living conditions of her family.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
