A loan of $1,700 helped to buy ceramics and plastic products.

Sabina Colombia's story

The "Mujeres del Nuevo Milenio" communal bank meets every fortnight in the Montecristi canton which is famous for its rich, precolonial culture and its artisan products that are known both nationally and internationally. Straw hats also originate from here.

And it is here that 69-year-old Sabina lives. She is married and with her husband she has six children, all of whom are now independent adults. Sabina's husband is a businessman.

Sabina is taking out this loan for her husband and sister who have a business selling artisan products and plastic items. They work four or five days a week, travelling to other cities to sell their products. They have been doing this for over 15 years and, with it, they have been able to move forward in life.

This loan will be used to buy ceramics and plastic products. Sabina has been with the communal bank for 10 years and she likes the help that it has always provided.

Sabina's dream is to be healthy and to continue prospering.
