Gladys Loreley's story

The "Mujeres del Nuevo Milenio" (New Millennium Women) Community Bank meets every fifteen days in Montecristi Canton, nationally and internationally renowned for its rich pre-colonial culture and its handicrafts. It is the birthplace of the famous toquilla straw hats.

Señora Gladys lives here. She is 39 years old, married and has two children aged 15 and 10, who study in school and college. Her husband is a teacher.

Gladys is a teacher in a local school, and also works in business. She has a small store in the center of the city in a premises which she has leased for over eight years. She sells clothing, shoes, household products, cards, and cuddly toys, among many other items. When she is working her mother and her children help out in the store, so in addition to earning a living in the place she works, she also makes money from her business.

This loan is to buy clothing, perfume and household products. She has been a member of the Community Bank for 10 years and she likes it because of the help she is always given by the loans.

Her dream is to give her children the best of everything.
