A loan of $1,400 helped a member to buy school materials.

Flor De Umacha Group's story

The Flor de Umacha communal bank will begin its first cycle in Pro Mujer as part of the Achacachi Regional Office. It is comprised of nine members, and it is headed by a board of directors. Flor is the president. The diverse businesses of the members of the communal bank include selling food, selling groceries, selling onions, and selling school supplies.

The loan that they will get will benefit small business people like Flor, who is a member. She says this is the first time she has been a part of Pro Mujer. She joined by invitation from a representative of the institution who went to visit Flor at her house.

She currently has a business selling school materials. She began this business several years ago with the support of her current life partner.

The loan that she will now get is for the improvement of her supplies (she will buy school materials). She will get them at the store in the city of El Alto. She will later sell them at the different fairs in her community. This way of working allows her to generate resources to support her household as much as possible. She is in a common-law marriage, and she has three children.

When she was asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, she replied that she likes the trainings about loans and health.
