A loan of $3,375 helped a member to buy fishing nets.

San Pedro De Huatajata Group's story

The Communal Bank “San Pedro de Huatajata” is starting its third loan cycle with Pro Mujer as part of the Copacabana Community Center. The group consists of eight members and is led by a Board of Directors headed by Sra. Marybel as its president. The members of this Communal Bank engage in various businesses such as working as a mechanic, selling vegetables, selling meat, selling fish, and selling jerky.

This loan will benefit small businesspeople, such as Sra. Marybel. She says that she joined Pro Mujer a few years ago after receiving an invitation from a consultant of the organization who visited her house. Marybel currently manages a business of selling fish. She is familiar with this business because she learned it from her parents years ago. After she got married, her own family worked in this field because it is profitable.

The loan she is receiving now will be used to replace her equipment (through the purchase of fishing nets) by acquiring these items at the nearby community fairs. Afterwards, she makes use of the equipment in her fishing business. Working in this manner enables her to generate income to maintain her household. Marybel is married and has two children.

When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, Marybel said that she enjoys the savings.
