A loan of $975 helped a member to buy fertilizer for his farmland.

San's Group's story

San, 33, lives in a rural area of the Sangke district of Battambang Province and he is married with three children, all of whom are still in school. The family's main sources of income are from rice farming and cows raising. To add more income, he also runs a business as a motorcycle repairer in a local area. The current business earns his family about 24,000 KHR per day, of which he is able to save about 13,000 KHR each day after offsetting his daily expenses.

San has been with VisionFund for three cycles and completely paid back the loans, which has helped him to relieve family's burden and improve their livelihood. To support his business, he is now leading his group to apply for another loan with Kiva’s partner, VisionFund. He will use his portion to buy fertilizer for his farmland; he will also use a portion of it to pay for labor and land plowing. With this loan, he hopes to expand his rice field so as to make a better living and keep his children in school.
