Hai is 58 years old and lives in a rural village of Battambang province’s Thmor Koul district, Cambodia. He is married and has three children, all of whom are still attending school. For the last two years, Hai has been buying and selling garbage in his village. The current business earns him about 30,000 KHR per day to meet the family’s need.
This is the first microloan for him with VisionFund. Now he is applying for a loan with VisionFund of 1,000,000 KHR. With this loan, he is going to buy more garbage to resell. He hopes this loan will enable him to earn more income from his current business so as to make a living better and keep his children in school.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
