A loan of $1,300 helped to invest in the purchase of leather, wood, lacquer and sealant to continue production.

Oscar's story

Oscar, a Peruvian artisan who specializes in leather home accents, would like a loan to invest in the purchase of leather, wood, lacquer and sealant to continue production. Oscar has been selling through NOVICA since 2004. This is his story:

"When I was 10 years old my father died, leaving me no choice but to work at different jobs. One day, when I was 12, I came upon a carpentry shop where I discovered my vocation for working with wood and leather. I resolved to master the craft, and I did so on my own, learning each step and improving every detail. Now I have my own workshop. I see my work as an art form, not just something to be sold, and my work fills my life in a way I cannot explain."

"Please receive my most heartfelt thanks for contributing to this microcredit. It is amazing to find out there are people in the world who offer their support without expecting anything in return. This makes me so very happy -- it makes me feel like I'm one of the luckiest people in the world!"
