A loan of $600 helped to purchase construction materials for the coop for the chickens and guinea pigs.

Edy's story

Edy is a 45 year old single mother who raised her seven children, of whom four are still living, in the house which she acquired a few years ago. Her primary source of income is raising animals such as chickens and guinea pigs, which she sells at a good price as she has a considerable amount of them. In addition to passing time in her home, she cuts firewood which she sells to the saunas who already know her and are always placing orders. She works without rest, as she alone must look after all her children. To do so she works in the mornings cleaning a home. "I am the queen of cleaning," she happily notes. All these jobs keep her busy and the conviction to persevere to one day see her children become professionals. Edy will invest the S/.1,500 soles to purchase construction materials for building coops for the chickens and guinea pigs, as this last year their numbers increased considerably.
