A loan of $625 helped to buy more onions and used clothing for resale.

Ekua's story

Although she has received no prior formal education, Ekua is an entrepreneur. She specializes in selling onions and used clothes in Emissakrom (near Cape Coast). She has been involved in both enterprises for three years.

Ekua is married and has 3 children. Her husband works as a carpenter. The proceeds from her businesses normally go towards helping her husband cover the family’s general expenses and paying their children’s school fees.

Ekua wants to use her loan to increase her current inventory levels, hence allowing her to sell greater quantities of both onions and used clothing. In the long term, Ekua plans to reinvest the future profits in her business, thus helping her expand and meet the needs of rising customer demands.
