A loan of $650 helped a member to buy fertilizers for her farmland and pay for water pumping.

Savy's Group's story

Living in a wooden house located in Battambang province’s Thmor Koul district, Savy is now 44 years old and married. She has six children, three who are dependents and are still in school. Savy and her husband are farmers and they supplement the family’s income by working for others for a fee. Having been in the business for four years, they are able to make 30,000KHR daily and manage to save about 10,000KHR each day. This is the eighth loan for Savy with Kiva’s partner, VisionFund. She completely paid back the past loans which have helped her better support her family with sufficient food. Now she is leading her group of three to ask for a loan. As the leader, she wants to use her portion to buy fertilizers for her farmland and use a portion of it on water pumping. She hopes this loan will boost her rice plantation and also grow healthy crops to make more income to improve her living conditions.
