A loan of $625 helped a member to buy fertilizer and insecticide, and to pay for plowing her land.

Lim's Group's story

Lim is a local farmer from Prey Chhor district of Kampong Cham province. She lives in a thatched-roof house, with her family, including five children. Out of her five children, she needs to support only three. Two of the dependent children are still in school, while the remaining one is still too young for schooling. Lim does her rice cropping business on a two-hectare area, which she has been working for 13 years. This work earns her about 23,600 KHR per day.

This is the third microloan for Lim and her co-borrower in the same group of two, with VisionFund (Kiva’s partner). She feels confident that she can move her family’s living status toward an upward trend, better than before. Now, her requested loan amount is 1,400,000 KHR, whereas her fellow group member is applying for 1,000,000 KHR. As the group leader, Lim will use her loan portion to buy fertilizer and insecticide, and to pay for plowing her land. She highly expects that she can gain double yield compared to before, and improve her lifestyle.
