Merlinda, age 39, is a farmer. She lives with her husband and their four children in Clarin, Misamis Occidental. She owns and operates an agricultural business involving the planting and harvesting of vegetables, and she has been engaged in her business for over six years. She earns PhP 3,000 per month.
Merlinda has been a member of GDMPC since 2010. She is currently requesting a loan in the amount of PhP 5,000, which she will use to purchase fertilizer, such as manure, for her farmland.
She plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to improve and expand her agricultural venture.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
