A loan of $775 helped to buy organic fertilizer.

Ayde's story

Ayde, 33, is an independent woman. She lives with her husband in the house which she inherited from her parents. She is characterized as a timid yet hardworking woman.

Her main financial income comes from the sale of legumes and corn, which gives her a constant weekly income. She used to like sowing crops, which she says that she still does, but only for her own consumption. It is during the corn season that she has a good income selling her own harvest.

There are currently many people who make a living just by being farmers, but she does not want to be one of them. Therefore, she learned the business of selling legumes and corn, which gives her a stable income. She would now like to buy a place in a commercial area so she can sell her legumes at a good price and grow into a wholesale entrepreneur. "That is my goal, which I hope to accomplish with the support of my husband and my family, especially because my children are young and they will need us," she says.

This is her second loan with Kiva. She promises to be punctual with her payments, as she is grateful for the financial support which will allow her to improve her fields. Ayde will invest these 2,000 Peruvian soles in the purchase of organic fertilizer to nourish her crops, because soon she will harvest the legumes and corn.
