A loan of $1,550 helped to buy organic fertilizer and hire local workers.

Victor's story

Victor, 43, is married to Rosalia, and they have 4 children. The family lives in their own house which is made of wood. For 20 years, Victor has been growing organic cocoa on land that is located an hour from his home. Thanks to the jungle climate it is possible to grow good quality cocoa beans, and so this is a good business alternative for the producers in the area.

At this time, Victor wants to invest in grafted cocoa, and for that he needs to hire day laborers who know the technique in order to perform this task as quickly as possible. Also, he needs to acquire sacks of organic fertilizer so that he will get a good harvest.

One of Victor's dreams for the future is to finish building his house with solid materials for the benefit of his family. As this is his first Kiva loan, he is thankful for the opportunity that he is being provided, and he promises to make his payments on time.

With this 4,000 Peruvian soles he requests, he will buy organic fertilizer for his crops, and he will also hire local workers.
