A loan of $1,175 helped to purchase food items such as rice, sugar, milk, and others.

Jose's story

José is 36 years old and married to Maruja, who is 33. They have two children and live in a house made from adobe. José works selling food products, since he thought farming was too complicated for him, and because he wanted to give as much attention as possible to his children. He rented a store and is always at his business making many friends, which has made him a well-known person in his neighborhood. In order to be stocked for the season, he wants to purchase basic products such as different brands of school supplies. In order to make a good investment, he wants to stock his store with wholesale purchases, so that he can earn additional income. His long term objectives are to purchase a plot of land and build a house. This is his first loan with Kiva. He is very grateful for the opportunity and promises to make his repayments on time. With the 3000 nuevos soles that he has requested, he will stock his store with items bought at wholesale, including rice, sugar, canned goods, and school supplies.
