A loan of $775 helped to hire workers.

Viviana's story

Viviana, 30, is the mother of two daughters, ages 13 and 7, who live with her in a well-built, rented house. She grows cacao and organic coffee. She inherited land from her parents when she was young. The land provides work so that she can support her family. She wakes early every morning, and after seeing her children off to school, she heads to her fields to do different maintenance tasks such as weeding and spreading organic fertilizer.

These essential tasks must be done continuously to ensure that her output is up to market quality, and, therefore, she always needs local workers. This is her first loan cycle with Kiva. She is grateful for the opportunity and promises to make her payments on time. Viviana needs S/.2,000 nuevos soles to hire workers to do the second weeding of her cacao plantings.
