A loan of $400 helped to hire workers.

Rosalia's story

Rosalía, 37, is divorced and has two daughters who live with her in their adobe house. Fifteen years ago, she began working for herself, growing cacao and organic coffee on some land she bought at a good price from an uncle. She says it is very important to take proper care of the plantings during each part of the growing cycle by weeding and spreading organic fertilizer. To do this, she needs money to hire more workers to speed up the work, especially the weeding, which she says is complicated.

Rosalia wants to keep working hard and obtain funding to build a house with good materials, in hopes of improving her daughters' lives. She needs S/.1,000 nuevos soles for this first loan so that she can hire workers to do the second weeding necessary to produce quality cacao pods for the harvest.
