Quiedondoya Group's story

This is the “Quiedondoya” group from Koidu, a city in eastern Sierra Leone. They are all local entrepreneurs who are requesting a loan of 700,000 SLL each. With the help of this loan they will be able to expand their businesses, make more sales, and improve their living conditions.

Kadiatu is the featured group leader. She is 39-year-old, married to a farmer, and has 3 children. Kadiatu has been a businesswoman for 15 years, selling food in the market. This includes rice, palm-oil (the country’s most popular cooking oil), margi (used to give sauce a sweet taste), pepper, flour, and sugar. With her share of this loan, Kadiatu will buy more of these items at wholesale prices.
