Shakti Shree Purusotam Self Help Group's story

The responsible Shakti Dhree Purusotam Self Help Group is made up of eight members. The members of the group are all women from the district of Dhenkanal in Odisha, India. All the group members are involved in doing different kind of activities.

One of them is Ms. Santilata, who was selected as their president. The lady wearing a yellow saree, sitting first from the left hand side is Santilata.

Santilata is 53 years old and lives with her husband and a child. She is engaged in the activity of making plates, bowls, spoons and other utensils made of brass, and then sells them in the nearby market. These plates are used for different purposes, mainly for serving food, and sometimes are used while performing rituals. She makes different types and sizes of plates and bowls, depending upon the demand of her customers.

Santilata has a plan to expand her business by producing greater quantities of her products, for which she needs machinery with which she can make the plates more frequently and quickly. She also needs raw materials like coal, brass, furnace, etc. She has a very good relationship with her customers because she completes their orders on time.

Santilata, along with her group, Shakti Shree Purusotam Self Help Group, has requested a loan of 240,000 INR for expanding their businesses.
