Edeni Group's story

Edeni is a group of 17 farmers in Kakamega North District represented by Jamin. The group has 9 women and 8 men. Jamin is on the right of the photo with his hand raised. Farming inputs will be delivered to him on credit consisting of the necessary materials to plant ½ acre of sweet potato, millet and sorghum. Jamin is a new One Acre Fund farmer and is excited for the 2013 Long Rains season. He joined One Acre Fund in order to gain access to hybrid seed and fertilizer and to grow enough food for the family.

Jamin described his harvest last year as good, but hopes he can have an even better one as a One Acre Fund farmer. He hopes that his profits from the 2013 Long Rains season can be used to send his children to school and to buy cattle. During the 2013 Long Rains season, each group member will receive ½ an acre of agricultural inputs on credit. Jamin’s group will receive 8.5 acres worth of inputs on credit.
