Alelesi Group's story

Alice is a member of Alelesi Group in Teso District. She is pictured with 8 One Acre Fund farmers, 5 women and 3 men. Alice is standing on the right with her hand raised. She is receiving an input loan for ½ acre of millet, sweet potato and sorghum cultivation. Alice is a new One Acre Fund farmer and is excited for the 2013 Long Rains season. She joined One Acre Fund in order to grow enough food for the family and because One Acre fund has the best education for the farmers.

Last year, Alice harvested 10 bags of maize on 1 acre of land. She is excited to improve her harvest as a One Acre Fund farmer during the 2013 Long Rains season. She plans to use the money that she earns from her next harvest to send her children to school and to save for the future. For the 2013 Long Rains season, Alice’s group members will take input loans of ½ acre each. In total, this group will receive input loans for use on 4 acres of land.
