A loan of $525 helped a member to purchase hybrid seed and fertilizer for the cultivation of sweet potato, millet, and sorghum.


Bidii Group's story

Agnes’ group has 13 farmers and is located in Teso District. Agnes is pictured on the right of Bidii Group with her hand raised. Agnes is pictured amongst the 4 men and 9 women of her group. She will receive input loans capable of planting ½ an acre with sorghum, millet, and sweet potato. Agnes is a new One Acre Fund farmer and is excited for the 2013 Long Rains season. She joined One Acre Fund in order to grow enough food for the family and will use the increased profits to send her children to school.

Agnes described her harvest last year as good, but hopes she can have an even better one as a One Acre Fund farmer. She plans on using future profits from the harvest to send her children to school and to repair her home. For the 2013 Long Rains season, Agnes’ group members will take input loans of ½ acre each. In total, this group will receive input loans for use on 6.5 acres of land.
