Elizabeth's Group's story

Elizabeth is a forty-five year old mother of seven children. She grows cowpeas, maize and cassava to support her family. Her husband is retired from the army.

Elizabeth's agricultural ventures are challenged by pests that destoy the crops and a lack of capital to purchase pesticides and fertilizer. She is joining the KOMAZA microforestry program because, as she says, "KOMAZA is helping farmers to grow economically by planting trees to generate money."

With the profits from her tree farm, Elizabeth intends to educate her children and to start agricultural businesses such as dairy farming or poultry keeping.
