Namukongo Group's story

Ferdinand’s group has 16 farmers and is located in the Chwele District. Ferdinand is pictured on the right of Namukongo Group with his hand raised. Ferdinand is pictured amongst the 13 men and 3 women of his group. He will receive input loans capable of planting ½ an acre with sorghum, millet and sweet potatoes. Ferdinand first enrolled with One Acre Fund during the 2012 Long Rains and is now preparing to be a One Acre Fund farmer during the 2013 Long Rains season. Ferdinand joined One Acre Fund in order to grow enough food for his family and use the increased profits to send his children to school.

Ferdinand described his harvest as very good last year, but believes he can have an even better one this year. He plans on using future profits from the harvest to send his children to school and save for the future. For the 2013 Long Rains season, Ferdinand’s group members will take input loans of ½ acre each. In total, this group will receive input loans for use on 8 acres of land.
