Sikule Group's story

Sikule Group is located in the Chwele District. It is a group of 4 women and 7 men led by Eulitah, pictured on the right with her hand raised. She is receiving an input loan for ½ acre of sweet potatoes, millet and sorghum cultivation. Eulitah first enrolled with One Acre Fund during the 2008 Long Rains and is now preparing to be a One Acre Fund farmer during the 2013 Long Rains season. Eulitah joined One Acre Fund in order to grow enough food for her family and use the increased profits to send her children to school. Eulitah described her harvest as very good last year, but believes she can have an even better one this year. She hopes that her profits from the 2013 Long Rains season can be used to send her children to school and buy cattle. For the 2013 Long Rains season, Eulitah’s group members will take input loans of ½ acre each. In total, this group will receive input loans for use on 5.5 acres of land. The field officer is standing on the left of the photo.
