Buyanji Group's story

Partison’s group has 17 farmers and is located in the Chwele District. Partison is pictured on the right of the Buyanji Group with his hand raised. Partison is pictured amongst the 4 men and 13 women of his group. He will receive input loans capable of planting ½ an acre with sorghum and millet. Partison first enrolled with One Acre Fund during the 2009 Long Rains and is now preparing to be a One Acre Fund farmer during the 2013 Long Rains season. Partison joined One Acre Fund in order to gain access to hybrid seed and fertilizer and grow enough food for his family. Partison reports that before One Acre Fund, he was able to grow about 1 bag of maize per ½ acre, but with his One Acre Fund input loan during Long Rains 2012, he harvested 15 bags per 1/2 acre! He plans on using future profits from the harvest to send his children to school and save for the future. Partison’s group members will each receive input loans of ½ acre during the 2013 Long Rains season. In total they will receive inputs for 8 1/2 acres of millet and sorghum.
