A loan of $625 helped a member to purchase hybrid seed and fertilizer for the cultivation of millet and sorghum.

Munyite Group's story

Munyite Group is located in Chwele District. It is a group of seven women and nine men led by Callicano pictured on the right with his hand raised. He is receiving an input loan for ½ acre of millet and sorghum cultivation. Callicano first enrolled with One Acre Fund during the 2009 Long Rains and is now preparing to be a One Acre Fund farmer during the 2013 Long Rains season. He joined One Acre Fund in order to gain access to hybrid seed and fertilizer and access the best input prices.

Callicano described his harvest as very good last year, but believes he can have an even better one this year. He plans on using future profits from the harvest to send his children to school and save for the future. During the 2013 Long Rains season, each group member will receive ½ an acre of agricultural inputs on credit. His group will receive eight acres worth of inputs on credit.
