Akote Group's story

Patrick is pictured on the right with his hand raised amongst his Akote Group members. The 23 of them, 15 women and 8 men, are farmers in the Teso District. Farming inputs will be delivered to him on credit consisting of the necessary materials to plant ½ acre of sweet potatoes, millet, and sorghum. Patrick is a new One Acre Fund farmer and is excited for the 2013 Long Rains season. He joined One Acre Fund in order to grow enough food for his family and use the increased profits to send his children to school.

Patrick described his harvest last year as good, but hopes he can have an even better one as a One Acre Fund farmer.
He plans to use the money that he earns from his next harvest to send his children to school and save for the future. During the 2013 Long Rains season, each group member will receive ½ an acre of agricultural inputs on credit. Patrick’s group will receive 11.5 acres worth of inputs on credit.
