A loan of $775 helped a member to purchase hybrid seed and fertilizer for the cultivation of sweet potatoes, millet, and sorghum.

Kaujakito Group's story

Livingstone’s group has 20 farmers and is located in the Teso District. Livingstone is pictured on the right of the Kaujakito Group with his hand raised. Livingstone is pictured amongst the 7 men and 13 women of his group. He will receive input loans capable of planting ½ an acre with sorghum, millet, and sweet potatoes. Livingstone is a new One Acre Fund farmer and is excited for the 2013 Long Rains season. He joined One Acre Fund in order to gain access to the best input prices of hybrid seed and fertilizer.

Livingstone described his harvest last year as good, but hopes he can have an even better one as a One Acre Fund farmer. He plans on using future profits from the harvest to send his children to school and buy cattle. For the 2013 Long Rains season, Livingstone’s group members will take input loans of ½ acre each. In total, this group will receive input loans for use on 10 acres of land.
