A loan of $775 helped a member to purchase hybrid seed and fertilizer for the cultivation of sweet potato, millet, and sorghum.


Akimorikina Group's story

Akimorikina is a group of 20 farmers in Teso district represented by Kamil. The group has 14 women and six men.

Kamil is on the right of the photo with his hand raised. Farming inputs will be delivered to him on credit consisting of the necessary materials to plant a half acre of sweet potato, millet and sorghum.

Kamil is a new One Acre Fund farmer and is excited for the 2013 Long Rains season. He joined One Acre Fund in order to gain access to hybrid seed and fertilizer and grow enough food for the family.

Kamil thought his harvest last year was poor. He hopes that as a One Acre Fund farmer he can have an excellent harvest. He hopes that his profits from the 2013 Long Rains season can be used to send his children to school and buy cattle.

During the 2013 Long Rains season, each group member will receive a half acre of agricultural inputs on credit. Kamil’s group will receive 10 acres worth of inputs on credit.
