Sarah's Group's story

Sarah is a forty-seven-year-old single mother of five children. She earns money for her family through various means, including making charcoal, small scale farming, and working on neighboring farms for pay. Her work on others' farms is seasonal, and making charcoal is tiresome work with a low return. Sarah is joining the KOMAZA microforestry program because she has seen that other KOMAZA tree farms in her area are growing well. She intends to use her profits to pay school fees for her children and hopefully start another business that will make more money.

In this group: Sarah, Margaret, Kahindi, Eddy, Changawa, Julius, Thuva, Charo
