Sanita's Group's story

Sanita is a 31-year-old mother of seven children. She and her husband earn money for their family by farming, digging for wages on neighboring farms, and sometimes resort to making charcoal. She frequently faces the challenge of inadequate rainfall for her crops. Since the local environmental resources are mismanaged, there are less and less mature trees for her charcoal business. She is excited to join the KOMAZA microforestry program because once the trees have grown, they will make fresh air and create a better environment on her farm. She plans on using the income from her KOMAZA trees to pay school fees and build a better house for her family.
