A loan of $3,250 helped a member to buy house building materials – corrugated iron zinc, sand, nails, cements, rods, etc. — for the construction of a family dwelling house.

Rev. Daniel S.'s Group's story

Salone Microfinance Trust (SMT), a partner of Kiva based in Makeni, northern Sierra Leone, is very pleased to present to you this group of primary school teachers in Makeni city. They have come together to request a loan of 14,000,000 Sierra Leonean Leones for the entire team. With the help of this loan, they can meet certain financial challenges that their salaries alone cannot meet. And at the end of each month, they can easily repay the loan, using their monthly salaries. It is their school’s bursar who is directly responsible for doing the deductions and making the repayments on their behalf.

Rev. Daniel is the featured leader of this team. The 56-year-old is a native of Makeni city. He is married to a teacher and the couple has eight children, four of whom are attending primary and secondary schools. Rev. Daniel has been a schoolteacher for 36 years now. He has applied for this loan in order to buy house building materials – corrugated iron zinc, sand, nails, cements, rods, etc. — for the construction of a family dwelling house.

In this group: Rev. Daniel S., Veronica S., Ibrahim B., James Y., Joseph S., Ibrahim , Rosaline M., Aaron , Digba , Jacob Jina, Zainab , Mariama
