Yololana Group's story

Yololana is a group of 10 farmers in Chwele District represented by Moses. The group has seven women and three men. Moses is on the right of the photo with his hand raised. Farming inputs, consisting of the necessary materials to plant a half acre of sweet potato, millet and sorghum, will be delivered to him on credit. Moses first enrolled with One Acre Fund during the 2012 Long Rains and is now preparing to be a One Acre Fund farmer during the 2013 Long Rains season. Moses joined One Acre Fund in order to receive input on loan.

Moses reports that before One Acre Fund, he was able to grow about nine bags of maize per acre, but with his One Acre Fund input loan during Long Rains 2012, he harvested nine bags per half acre! He plans to use the money he earns from his next harvest to send his children to school and buy more land. For the 2013 Long Rains season, Moses’s group members will take input loans of a half acre each. In total, this group will receive input loans for use on five acres of land.
