A loan of $425 helped to buy more bags of charcoal to sell.

Esi's story

Esi is married to a farmer. She uses her income to help her husband pay the general household expenses, as well as to save for a rainy day. Esi is a middle school graduate, and currently she sells charcoal, in her village of Nyame Bekyere (near Cape Coast). With over two years of experience in this trade, Esi sees an opportunity to expand her enterprise further. Nevertheless, she does not have the working capital necessary to increase her stock levels. Therefore, she will use her loan to buy more bags of charcoal to sell, indirectly helping her boost her overall sales. Esi wants to make her business self-sustainable, as soon as possible. As a result, she plans to channel the new profits from her expanded business back into her charcoal enterprise.
