A loan of $400 helped a member to buy hybrid seed and fertilizer at the best prices.

Lambachwet Group's story

The One Acre Fund Lambachwet Group is comprised of a group of ten farmers, all women, in Chwele District and is headed by Caro (seen on the right with her hand raised). Enough seed and equipment to farm half an acre of sweet potato, millet and sorghum will be given to each farmer on credit so that together the group will receive enough supplies to farm five acres in all.

Caro is a new One Acre Fund farmer and is excited to be enrolling in the Long Rains 2013 season. Last year she harvested four bags of maize on one-half acre of land and is now excited at the prospect of harvesting even more. Through One Acre Fund she will have access to hybrid seed and fertilizer at the best prices.

Caro hopes that her profits from the 2013 Long Rains season can be used to grow enough food for her family, send her children to school and repair her home.
