Muungano A Group's story

Muungano A is a group of 10 farmers in Chwele District, represented by Jestimore. The group has five women and five men. Jestimore is on the right of the photo, with his hand raised. Farming inputs will be delivered to him, on credit, consisting of the necessary materials to plant ½ acre of sweet potato, millet and sorghum. Jestimore joined One Acre Fund during the Long Rains 2009, and is now enrolling in the Long Rains 2013 season. Jestimore joined One Acre Fund so that he could grow enough food for the family, and use his increased profits to send his children to school.

Jestimore described his last year's harvest, as a One Acre Fund farmer, as excellent. He hopes for another good year in the 2013 Long Rains season. He hopes that his profits from the 2013 Long Rains season can be used to send his children to school and to repair his home. During the 2013 Long Rains season, each group member will receive ½ an acre of agricultural inputs on credit. Muungano A Group will receive a total of five acres' worth of inputs, on credit.
