Katamakisi Group's story

Benjamin’s group has ten farmers and is located in Teso District. Benjamin is pictured on the right of Katamakisi Group with his hand raised. Benjamin is pictured amongst the six men and four women of his group. He will receive input loans capable of planting ½ an acre of sorghum, millet, and sweet potatoes. The 2013 Long Rains season will be Benjamin’s first season with One Acre Fund. He joined this year in order to access the best input prices and grow enough food for the family.

Benjamin described his harvest last year as poor. He hopes as a One Acre Fund farmer he is able to join the ranks of One Acre Fund farmers that have doubled their harvest in their first year of the program. He plans to use the money that he earns from his next harvest to buy a goat and send his children to school. Benjamin’s group members will each receive input loans of ½ acre during the 2013 Long Rains season. In total they will receive inputs for five acres of millet and sorghum.
