Mavuno Group's story

Mavuno Group is located in Teso District. It is a group of 6 women and 14 men led by Jafred pictured on the right with his hand raised. He is receiving an input loan for ½ acre of sweet potatoes, millet, and sorghum cultivation. Jafred first enrolled with One Acre Fund during the 2012 Long Rains and is now preparing to be a One Acre Fund farmer during the 2013 Long Rains season. Jafred joined One Acre Fund in order to gain access to hybrid seed and fertilizer and to improve his farming techniques with One Acre Fund methods.

Jafred described his harvest as good last year, but believes he can have an even better one this year. He plans on using future profits from the harvest to send his children to school and save for the future. Jafred’s group members will each receive input loans of ½ acre during the 2013 Long Rains season. In total they will receive inputs for 10 acres of millet and sorghum.
