Tumaini Group's story

Tumaini is a group of 18 farmers in the Teso District represented by Sabensia. The group has 5 women and 13 men. Sabensia is on the right of the photo with her hand raised. Farming inputs will be delivered to her on credit consisting of the necessary materials to plant a ½ acre of millet, sorghum, and sweet potatoes. Sabensia is a new One Acre Fund farmer and is excited for the 2013 Long Rains season. She joined One Acre Fund in order to grow enough food for the family and access the best input prices.

Sabensia managed to harvest 15 bags of maize on 3 acres of land last year. As a One Acre Fund farmer, she hopes to harvest even more! She hopes that her profits from the 2013 Long Rains season can be used to send her children to school and buy a cow. Sabensia’s group members will each receive input loans of a ½ acre during the 2013 Long Rains season. In total, they will receive inputs for 9 acres of millet and sorghum.
