Bumsika Group's story

Clement’s group has 5 farmers and is located in Teso District. Clement is pictured on the right of Bumsika Group with his hand raised. Clement is pictured amongst the 1 man and 4 women of his group. He will receive input loans capable of planting ½ an acre with sorghum, millet, and sweet potatoes. Clement first enrolled with One Acre Fund during the 2012 Long Rains and is now preparing to be a One Acre Fund farmer during the 2013 Long Rains season. Clement joined One Acre Fund in order to grow enough food for the family and to improve his farming techniques with One Acre Fund methods.

Clement reports that before One Acre Fund, he was able to grow about 2 bags of maize per ½ acre, but with his One Acre Fund input loan during Long Rains 2012, he harvested 8 bags per 1/2 acre! He plans on using future profits from the harvest to buy a cow and send his children to school. Clement’s group members will each receive input loans of ½ acre during the 2013 Long Rains season. In total they will receive inputs for 2 1/2 acres of millet and sorghum.
