Lurare Group's story

Lurare Group is located in Chwele District. It is a group of 10 women and 2 men, led by Caro, who is on the right side of the picture, with her hand raised. She is receiving an agricultural input loan, which will include all necessary materials for ½ acre of sweet potato, millet and sorghum cultivation. Caro first enrolled with One Acre Fund during the 2011 Long Rains and is now preparing to be a One Acre Fund farmer during the 2013 Long Rains season. Caro joined One Acre Fund in order to grow enough food for the family, and to use her increased profits to send her children to school.

Caro described her harvest as good last year, but she believes she can have an even better one this year. She plans to use the money that she earns from her next harvest to send her children to school and to save for the future. For the 2013 Long Rains season, the Lurare Group members will take input loans of ½ acre, each. In total, this group will receive input loans for use on six acres of land.

In this group: Caro, Janetrix, Antonina, Chrisantus, Judith, Fatuma, Shadrack, Benadette, Margaret, Brigid, Rose, Jackline
