Muhridin's story

Muhridin lives in the Gissar region, which is located in the west-central area of Tajikistan. He is 56 years old, married, and has 4 children. One of his sons is currently employed as a migrant worker abroad. Muhridin has a post-secondary education in agriculture, and he worked in that field for 22 years. For the last 6 years, he has been growing vegetable crops, mainly potatoes. At the same time, he works as a truck driver and hauls loads. He is seeking a loan for his crop-growing business. He wants to buy seed potatoes and mineral fertilizers. In the future, he plans to expand his business and establish his own dehkan farm. A dehkan farm is a small private farm owned by an individual or group that is worked by several people, on which the main crops grown are cotton, wheat or vegetables that account for 60% of irrigated land use in Tajikistan.
